hot La Salle team that has won 5 of 6 games to start their season! So why is
Temple the slight favorite? Strength of Schedule! LaSalle has played 1 team

Let me start by saying that it’s not very often that you get points with a Home
Team Underdog that has won 6 straight games and 8 out of it’s last 9. Throw in
4 straight home wins to boot. Philadelphia comes in looking to turn things
around after losing 2 straight. Surprisingly, Philly has won 3 of their last 4
road games. There are a couple of injuries being reported. Philadelphia’s
leading scorer Joel Embiid is expected to dress out and play tonight vs the
Thunder. OKC’s number 2 scorer Jalen Williams has missed the last two games and
is not expected to be available vs Philadelphia. Philadelphia relies heavily on
their starters for the majority of their points, while Oklahoma City gets great
production from PG Alexander, they get a good solid mix of players that all
contribute which has led to their current win streak. While I would really like
to see Williams in the OKC lineup tonight, we’re obviously getting good line
value because of him not playing. OKC has managed to win the last two games without
him, and should get another home win tonight with Embiid for Philly not being 100%.

6 straight! Yeah, two teams meet tonight to put an end to the misery! The
Islanders have allowed opponents to score 4 or more goals in 7 of their last 8
games. I’m not gonna sugar coat it here, as the Kraken have allowed 4 or more
goals in 5 of their last 6. So, we’ve established the fact that both of these
teams are relatively soft defensively. What’s the offenses like you ask? Not
great, with the Islanders scoring 2 or less goals in 4 of their last 5 games.
The Kraken are a tad bit better, scoring 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 8
games. I really believe the difference in this game tonight is going to be settled
by special teams play. Seattle is ranked ninth in the league with a 23.08 PP%
while the islanders are ranked 29th in the league with a 71.15 PK%. Let’s
talk goalies. The Islanders are projected to be starting Varlamov, who has
actually played pretty well this season. He’s got a 2-3 record, 2.04 GAA and a .940
SV% with two shutouts to his credit. The Kraken are projected to be starting
Grubauer. He’s got a 3-6 record, 3.37 GAA and a .891 SV% with no shutouts. Both
teams will be running out of steam after back to back games. I’ll be taking my
chances with a Kraken team that should have better scoring opportunities on
special teams, and will have the home crowd rooting them on!

opened at -160 on the Money Line, then fell quickly to -150. I believe the
sharp money will come in late on Vancouver tonight. I just don’t see how New
York keeps the Canucks from scoring. In fact, the Islanders have given up 4 or
more goals in 4 straight games! The Canucks get the nod on special teams,
having a better Power Play team, as well as a more efficient penalty kill
squad. Sorokin is expected to be in net for the Islanders, while Demko gets the
start for the Canucks. I’ll note here that Demko has never lost to the
Islanders. (2-0 2.85 GAA, .912 SV %) Sorokin is 2-1-0 3.73 GAA, .887 SV% against
the Canucks, giving up 6 goals to them his last time out. Look for the Canucks
to cruise to a victory at home tonight.

Washington comes into Toronto off of a Sunday night road loss to the Nets. I think I’ll take my chances with this Toronto team that will be looking to take advantage of the Washington Defense. Washington ranks at or near the bottom in several key categories including FG% allowed 29th, Defensive Rebounds 29th, and points allowed 29th. Washingtons allowing 123.8 points a game, which is exactly what the Raptors need. Barnes, Siakam, and Schroder should all be able to pad their stats tonight. I was hoping this line would open in the 5–6-point range but will still play it at the current 8 to 8 ½ point range. Washington will keep the score tight early, but Toronto should pull away late, because of Washington playing in back-to-back road games. Look for weary and tired legs in 4th period!
